If the tundra can be beaten
There is an old Second World War story that talks about a German soldier that walked his way out of the Russian frozen tundra with nothing but one pistol and the cloths he wore. He survived three winters! He walked for three years, avoiding capture and surviving the worse this world has to offer. What relevance does this have on SEO strategies? It would be a huge insult to that soldier if anyone were to liken his amazing challenge with that of getting the right SEO strategy to work. However the two tasks are similar in that they seem daunting but can both be overcome by simply breaking the major task down into smaller less overwhelming tasks.
The soldier in the story did this by carrying ten pebbles, and by counting his steps. After every hundred steps he would move one pebble from his left hand to his right, after a thousand steps he would put all the pebbles back into his left hand and start again. Walking out of the Russian tundra seems impossible when facing it straight on, but walking one hundred steps doesn’t. He broke down the task, as simple as it seems, into a hundred steps at a time, to accomplish the bigger goal.
The logic is sound
The same logic needs to be applied to tasks such as getting the right SEO strategies working for your business or website. The tasks need to be finite, reachable and useful in regards to the end goal. Many marketing strategies can be as daunting, or seemingly too ambitious. They too can be made smaller into more manageable tasks.
Firstly, when deciding to follow a SEO strategy, be clear on the fact that it is a process that is on going and needs of constant care. So committing to this is the first big step. Next goal is to gather as much information on SEO and internet marketing as you can, because it is important to know what is going on regardless of whether or not you outsource or decide to do it yourself.
With those tasks mastered you can start designing and creating a great website. In trying to accomplish this task, there needs to be smaller goals set up. These goals include, writing for the user first, a lot of designers and SEO consultants focus too heavily on what the search engine look for and neglect the actual purpose of the website which is to serve the user first. Include a site map on your website as well as register your site with all the necessary search engines. Use relevant info that is updated regularly and is full or relevant useful links.
The next major task is off-site SEO, this includes researching and using keywords, opening a PPC account, continually setting up relevant useful links, Start a blog, and participate in related blogs. All individually manageable tasks, that achieve the end goal.
